Pep Guardiola is reportedly set to step down as Manchester City manager at the end of the season.
According to the “Daily Mail,” the legendary coach will leave after Sunday’s match against Aston Villa, bringing an end to a dominant era that began when he arrived from Bayern Munich in 2016.
The Spaniard has guided City to six Premier League titles, with a small chance of winning a seventh if they manage to overtake Arsenal on the final day — which would also be his final match in charge of the club.
He has also won three FA Cups, five EFL Cups, and the Champions League as part of the historic treble during the 2022/23 season.
According to the report, Manchester City has already started informing sponsors about the development, while the official announcement is expected to come on Sunday.
It is even said that an open-top bus parade will be organized on Monday in Manchester to celebrate his achievements with the club.
The parade is expected to begin around 4:00 PM in the Northern Quarter and finish near the Etihad Stadium.
Among the candidates being mentioned to replace Guardiola are Enzo Maresca, his former assistant and former Chelsea manager, as well as Vincent Kompany, the City legend and current Bayern Munich coach.
The news comes at a critical moment in the title race, with City sitting two points behind Arsenal and only two matches remaining.
They must defeat Bournemouth and Aston Villa, but even then their title hopes depend on Arsenal dropping points against Burnley and Crystal Palace.
