he well-known “Friends” actress Lisa Kudrow has revealed the one request fans make that she always refuses, as she spoke in a new interview about the sitcom’s enduring success.
The 63-year-old actress, who rose to fame playing Phoebe Buffay, appeared in all 10 seasons of the NBC sitcom, which aired from 1994 to 2004.
Alongside Kudrow, the series also starred Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer, and the late Matthew Perry. The sitcom followed the lives of six close friends living in New York City.
During an interview on “Fresh Air” with hosts Terry Gross and Tonya Mosley, Kudrow said she has “no complaints about ‘Friends’ or anything related to it.” However, she admitted that there is one exception when it comes to requests from fans.
Kudrow said she does not mind when fans ask her to repeat some of Phoebe’s famous lines, or even when they call her by her character’s name.
However, she does not enjoy it when fans ask her to sing Phoebe’s famous song, “Smelly Cat.”
“Every once in a while, people stop me and say, ‘Oh, sing “Smelly Cat.”’ I don’t want to do that. I really don’t want to do it,” she said.
During the interview, Kudrow also spoke about how much she enjoyed filming “Friends” and the strong bonds she developed with her co-stars, relationships that have lasted for decades.
“Just the relationship with the other actors… we had such a good time together. That is something that is very rare. And there was genuine and sincere respect, mutual respect,” she said.
Kudrow acknowledged that she and her co-stars had to continuously work to maintain and strengthen their friendships throughout the years of filming.
“It was a really good relationship that required a little effort, and we made that effort. It was fantastic. Everything about it was fantastic.”
Kudrow revealed that she and her co-stars made sure to spend time together and even played poker during breaks between filming on the show’s set.
