“The Reports Were True, but I Wanted to Stay at Inter” – Lautaro Speaks About Barcelona’s Interest

Lautaro Martínez has spoken for the first time about Barcelona’s interest in him and the reports linking him with a move to the Catalan club during the summer transfer window.

The Inter captain, speaking to Sky Italia at the “Gran Gala del Calcio,” confirmed that the rumours about a possible transfer were true, but stressed that his desire was to remain at San Siro.

“When these offers and calls come in, it is always pleasing because it means you are working to stay at the top. The rumours were true, but I have very clear ideas and objectives,” Lautaro said.

The Argentine striker made it clear that he had no desire to leave Inter.

“I wanted to stay here with my teammates and with this wonderful fan base. I would stay here forever, and as long as they want me, I will be here,” he added.

Lautaro also highlighted the special bond he has with the Nerazzurri.

“Inter means everything to me: pride, happiness and the desire to keep going. I have chosen to stay here again, and I want to achieve great things with Inter,” the captain said.

Barcelona’s interest in Lautaro became stronger amid uncertainty surrounding a potential move for Julián Álvarez, but the Argentine ultimately decided to remain in Milan.

Thus, despite interest from one of Europe’s biggest clubs, Lautaro chose to continue his journey with Inter, where he has become one of the team’s key figures and its captain.
