Neymar Raises Hopes for the World Cup

Neymar once again captured the attention of Brazilian football with a decisive performance in Santos’ 2-0 victory against Bragantino, showing that he still remains a key figure for the team and for his future with the national squad.

In a high-pressure match, where Santos had gone seven games without a win, Neymar was the absolute protagonist.

He scored the opening goal at the end of the first half, a finish typical of his style, restoring confidence to both the team and the fans. Neymar did not stop there. In the 75th minute, he assisted the second goal from a set piece, finding Adonis FrĂas for the 2-0 lead that sealed the victory.

After the match, the stadium erupted in applause when he was substituted in the 82nd minute, an emotional moment that demonstrated his strong connection with the fans and the hopes for his full return to form ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

But the biggest debate remains off the pitch. After Lionel Messi, Brazilian legend Ronaldinho has also openly supported Neymar and called on Brazil coach Carlo Ancelotti to include him in the World Cup squad.

“With all due respect to everyone, for me he is the best. It would be crazy if he doesn’t go to the World Cup. If he is fit, there is no way he should be left out,” said Ronaldinho.

Ronaldinho added that he would only justify Neymar’s absence in the case of injury, emphasizing Neymar’s importance to the national team.

Meanwhile, despite the strong support, the situation remains uncertain for the Santos star. Competition for a place in the 2026 World Cup squad remains fierce, and the final decisions are expected on May 18.
