According to various media reports, the Spanish runners-up, Real Madrid, have three options to replace departing captain Dani Carvajal at the right-back position.
Some indications point toward the Premier League, where Real Madrid’s future coach, Jose Mourinho, spent many years working.
According to Sport, one candidate is Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot. Mourinho is reportedly interested in bringing his Portuguese compatriot to Madrid.
The two have worked together before at the “Red Devils.” In the summer of 2018, Dalot joined United from Porto for €22 million. Mourinho then coached him for six months.
Dalot, who can also play on the left flank, is under contract with Manchester United until 2028. The 27-year-old was a regular starter last season, making 36 appearances in all competitions (one goal, three assists).
The second option from the English top flight, according to AS, is Tottenham’s Pedro Porro. However, the 26-year-old is considered very expensive.
Like Dalot, Porro is also under contract until 2028. Tottenham, who are still involved in a Premier League survival battle, paid €40 million to sign him from Sporting Lisbon in 2023.
Meanwhile, the third option would be significantly cheaper for Real Madrid — relying on academy players.
With the two young players, Jesus Fortea (19) and David Jimenez (22), Real have two promising talents who could cover the position behind first-choice right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
