Aston Villa coach Unai Emery has said that his team is not a contender for the Premier League title.
Such a statement comes after the victory of the team led by him against the reigning champion, Manchester City. Villa managed to win 1-0 in the weekend match with the goal scored by Bailey. The next match Emery’s team plays against Arsenal, who are currently leading the table, while Villa is in third position.
“We are not contenders. There are seven teams who are contenders more than us. It is only about the fifteenth game. We will play the sixteenth game on Saturday against Arsenal and we will focus on it,” said the Spaniard. “We are happy to be third, but it will be very difficult to maintain that position. If we keep progressing through the season, winning like we’re doing, maybe we can be contenders, but I think we need more time.”
