After being found not guilty of rape charges, Mendy aims to revive his career

Benjamin Mendy has returned to football after a long time.

The French footballer was recently acquitted of one count of rape and another count of attempted rape following a retrial earlier this month.

He was previously acquitted of six counts of rape at his original trial in January this year.

Thus, after being “cleaned” completely, the left defender decided to return to football,

The French club announced that the 29-year-old has signed a two-year contract until the end of June 2025.

He was released by “Citizens” after accusations of rape.

Mendy had played 75 matches with the English and European champions, while he had won the Premier League title four times.

Mendy was also part of the France team that won the 2018 World Cup.

He has not played since August 2021, when he last appeared in a 0:1 defeat by Tottenham.

The full-back had previously played in France with teams such as Marseille, Le Havre and Monaco before ending up at the Etihad Stadium.

Now, through Lorient, he intends to revive his career.
