Negotiations for Lionel Messi’s contract with PSG have ended and the issue is not that the parties have reached an agreement.
The French capital’s biggest publication, Le Parisien, says the club and Leo are ready to part ways in the summer, after the two sides failed to agree on contract terms. They now intend to part ways in the summer, and the Argentine could return to Barcelona.
PSG wanted to keep Messi at the club and have been in talks with him since the World Cup winner returned from Qatar in January. However, they failed to reach an understanding as the club needed Lionel to take a pay cut due to FFP issues.
Barcelona, on the other hand, have made great progress in negotiations, with many media reporting that Leo is open to the idea of a return if the Catalans find a way to negotiate with La Liga and adapt to financial constraints.
Most likely, the Parisians will again try to negotiate with the attackers, but it is unlikely that they will achieve a different result.
