Cristiano Ronaldo continues to score goals at an unstoppable rate. The Portuguese star scored the 979th goal of his career during Al-Nassr’s 2–1 victory over Abha in the sixth round of the Saudi Pro League.
Ronaldo put the home side ahead in the 22nd minute. Following a corner taken by Angelo, he rose brilliantly and headed the ball into the net to make it 1–0. The ball initially struck the post before finding its way into the net.
This was another important step for the 40-year-old Portuguese forward on his remarkable journey toward the extraordinary milestone of 1,000 career goals.
Later in the match, Ronaldo had several more chances to score, but the post denied him in the 38th minute, while another effort was cleared off the line moments later.
In the end, Al-Nassr managed to hold on to the victory, taking their points tally to 15 after six rounds—level with Al-Hilal and Al-Qadsiah.
