USA Offer Pochettino a New Contract Until 2030

The U.S. Soccer Federation has reportedly presented Mauricio Pochettino with a new contract that could keep him in charge of the United States men’s national team for another four years.

The offer was made ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Pochettino’s current contract expires at the end of the tournament, but he has expressed his willingness to remain in the role if the conditions are right.

Pochettino has publicly admitted that he would be interested in a second cycle with the USMNT and has hinted on several occasions that he could continue his work with the United States. He has also revealed that he turned down offers from other clubs because of his commitment to the U.S. national team.

“Whenever I’ve been at different clubs, I’ve always been fully committed. Of course, there have been times when people have contacted me… but I’ve always said that I respect my contract. That’s how we operate. When approaches like that come in, I don’t listen, and neither do my agents until after the World Cup. Maybe after the World Cup there will be an opportunity to continue with the federation,” he said.

U.S. Soccer CEO JT Batson has confirmed that discussions over a contract extension have been ongoing.

“We’ve had several in-depth conversations about what the next four years could look like. We’re excited, and they’re excited as well, but of course our focus has to remain on this summer,” Batson said.

According to The Athletic, U.S. Soccer has made a concrete offer ahead of the tournament that could keep Pochettino in charge until 2030. Both parties have agreed to postpone final negotiations until after the World Cup, depending on the United States’ performance in the tournament.

The U.S. made a strong start to the competition by winning its first two matches and securing top spot in Group D, before suffering a heartbreaking stoppage-time defeat to Turkey in Los Angeles with a squad made up largely of reserve players.

Pochettino has also been linked with several clubs this summer, including AC Milan and Brentford, but many of those opportunities have either closed or remain uncertain, limiting his list of options.

The Argentine manager has emphasized that discussions with other clubs are normal in football, but insisted that his full focus remains on honoring his contract with the United States until after the World Cup.
