Lionel Messi Ready for the World Cup, Injury Concerns Put to Rest

Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni has confirmed that Lionel Messi, Emiliano Martínez, and Julián Álvarez have successfully passed their final medical examinations and are fully fit for the opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to Scaloni, the team’s three key players have recovered in time and will be available for Argentina’s opening Group J clash against Algeria, scheduled to take place on June 17.

Speaking at a press conference, the Argentine coach placed special emphasis on captain Lionel Messi, describing him as a “monumental” figure for the national team ahead of the Group J encounter with Algeria.

Argentina are expected to begin their World Cup campaign with high ambitions, and the return to full fitness of their biggest stars is regarded as a major boost to their hopes of successfully defending their world title.
