There are growing concerns in Carlo Ancelotti’s Brazil national team camp that the squad’s star player, Neymar, may not be available for the entire group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Santos forward and former Barcelona and PSG player continues to train separately from the team, just one day before Brazil’s opening match against Morocco.
Injuries continue to plague Neymar in what is expected to be the final World Cup of his career. The 34-year-old has not managed to play more than two consecutive league matches for his club during this calendar year due to ongoing fitness issues.
Despite this, Carlo Ancelotti decided to include Neymar in Brazil’s squad for the 2026 World Cup in North America, even though the player was recovering from a calf injury suffered while playing for Santos.
According to reports from Sky Sport Italia, Neymar has still not returned to full training with the group ahead of the clash against Morocco, the fourth-place finishers at the 2022 World Cup.
This makes his participation in Brazil’s opening match highly unlikely, while the report suggests that Ancelotti may be forced to do without Neymar throughout the entire group stage.
Brazil will face Haiti on June 20 in Philadelphia, before playing their final group-stage match against Scotland on June 24.
