Real Madrid Close to Their First Summer Signing

According to Spanish outlet Diario AS, Ibrahima Konaté is set to become a Real Madrid player this summer.

The French defender recently bid farewell to Liverpool following the expiration of his contract and has since emerged as one of the most sought-after free agents on the market.

However, Real Madrid are currently considered the frontrunners for Konaté’s signature, and Florentino Pérez is expected to finalize the deal soon if he is re-elected as club president on Sunday.

Reports suggest that Pérez is preparing a four-year contract offer, with an option for an additional year. A substantial signing bonus is also expected to be included as part of the agreement.

José Mourinho, who is widely expected to become Real Madrid’s new head coach, has reportedly given the green light for the club to pursue Konaté. Kylian Mbappé could also play a key role in the transfer due to his excellent relationship with his fellow Frenchman.

Konaté is renowned for his physical strength and aggressive defensive style, and he could form an ideal partnership with Dean Huijsen at the heart of Madrid’s defense.

Having secured players such as Antonio Rüdiger, David Alaba, Kylian Mbappé, and Trent Alexander-Arnold on free transfers in recent years, Los Blancos appear ready to repeat the same strategy with Konaté.
