U.S. President Donald Trump has announced a five-day ceasefire in the conflict involving Iran.
Through a post on social media, Trump stated that over the past two days, the United States and Iran held productive discussions aimed at finding a solution to the situation in the Middle East.
Trump emphasized that during these days there will be no military attacks against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure, while talks will continue throughout the week.
“I am pleased to report that the United States and Iran have had very good and productive discussions over the past two days regarding a comprehensive resolution of our hostilities in the Middle East. Based on the tone of these in-depth, detailed talks, which will continue throughout the week, I have instructed the Department of War to postpone any military attack against Iranian power plants and energy infrastructure for a five-day period, depending on the success of the ongoing meetings and discussions,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Earlier over the weekend, Trump had threatened to “completely destroy” Iranian energy facilities if the strait was not reopened within 48 hours.
