Dinamo Zagreb president Zvonimir Boban is reportedly aiming to bring Croatian star Luka Modrić back to his boyhood club.
According to Italian media, including Il Gazzetta dello Sport, the future of the 40-year-old midfielder at AC Milan remains open.
Modrić joined the Rossoneri last summer on a one-year contract, following 13 successful seasons with Real Madrid.
Milan are interested in keeping him for another season and hold an option to extend his contract by a further 12 months. However, the final decision is expected to depend on the player himself.
On the other hand, Dinamo Zagreb are keen to bring Modrić back after the World Cup. Boban could play a key role in this operation, as he was Modrić’s childhood idol. The midfielder has previously admitted that, as a youngster, he supported Milan precisely because of Boban.
Nevertheless, it remains unclear whether Modrić will choose a return to Zagreb, continue his adventure with Milan, or retire from football after the World Cup. His decision is being eagerly awaited both in Italy and in Croatia.
