Forward Cristiano Ronaldo has come to the defense of the Saudi Pro League’s level during a conversation with journalist Piers Morgan, emphasizing that critics underestimate the quality of the competition and the conditions under which the games are played.
The Portuguese star stated that it’s easier to score in the Spanish league than in the Saudi one, pointing out that the high temperatures play a major role.
“Some people are always looking for excuses — it’s the easiest way. Year after year, I keep scoring more. Even in my weakest season, I scored 25 goals.”

“Those who talk have never been here, have never played here. They don’t know what it means to run in 40-degree heat. And I’m still going,” he said. The Al Nassr striker added that the Saudi league deserves much more respect.
“It’s much better than the Portuguese league, and even better than the French one — because in France there’s only PSG. Why isn’t the Golden Boot counted for the Saudi league? Look at the top scorers and ask the players who have played here. For me, it’s been easier to score in Spain than in the Saudi Pro League.”
Meanwhile, during this extensive interview, Ronaldo also spoke about several other topics, including the World Cup and his retirement.
