An avalanche near the Austrian ski resort of Solden has killed three skiers from the Netherlands. Another person survived and was sent to the hospital.
The victims were part of a group of ski tourers consisting of 17 people who were ascending with four Austrian guides.
The ski tour involves the use of skis with bindings and special skins that allow movement in snow, writes The Guardian.
The group was heading towards a mountain shelter at around 2,500 meters above sea level when the avalanche, which was about 80 meters wide, struck shortly before 11 a.m. on Thursday.
