RAJESHRI SENAPATI GOGOI – DIBRUGARH UNIVERSITY INTERNATIONAL LITERATURE FESTIVAL 2024

Dibrugarh University the heart of Dibrugarh city has always been an icon for a better future for the coming generations.
As an employee of Dibrugarh University, I can proudly say that Dibrugarh University always enriches everyone with new and admirable work that shines brightly like the sun . Many writers have mentioned that Dibrugarh University is the “country of Nahar” in their writings, including me. So year after years the first thought that might comes to people’s mind is the nahar trees which stains all tierdness of the students and pedestrians.
The International Literature Festival (DUILF) 2024 held on 19-21st March 2024 for three days to celebrate the literature and discussion among poets, writers, thinkers and literary lovers from different parts of the world. The event was organized by DUILF in collaboration with Dibrugarh University and the non-profit Foundation for Arts, Culture and Literature (FOCAL) in Guwahati. The International Literature Festival (DUILF) 2024.was an event of three workshop’s, 30 plus session of different topics. The inauguration ceremony was selomonised in a peaceful and cheerful way .
Honourable Vice-Chancellor of Dibrugarh University, Dr. Jiten Hazarika welcomed everyone with a fruitful speech. Presence of the Registrar Dr. Parmananda Sonowal and the officials of the University spread glitters over the hall . The launch was attended by Padmabhushan Jahnu Barua, Guest of honour renowned film directors and dignitaries . Chief Guest Damodar Moujo, winner of Jnanpith Award and Sahitya Akademi Award, is an author of short stories, novels, criticism and screenplay was also iconic.
The gift of literary exchange for the university, through conversations of writers was a very prideful period for Dibrugarh University. I too am very happy to be a part of this great event and congratulate everyone of this three day journey. As we know Literature is the
Thought of communication, a work that transmits culture. The International Literature Festival has given some of the exchange of literature and culture. The authorities of Dibrugarh University are always well-wishers of everyone, I am eternally grateful to the authorities (administration) for this facility, and I would like to salute everyone for the encouragement for the upliftment of the new generation through Literature. It was a very nice program. Thirteen countries participated in the festival wherefrom many different representatives from different parts of the country attended the sessions . There were 30 plus sessions in this special festival where all the topics were very interesting. 70 plus authors from all over the world was a part of this wonderful event. As Dibrugarh University has some objectives , and all this objectives encompasses the official definition of education from the Oxford Dictionary as “a process of teaching, training and learning to enhance knowledge and develop skills, especially in schools, colleges or universities”. They develop human resources by integrating them. Discussion of multiple perspectives is essential for critical thinking among today’s students. The adoption of such thoughtful programs and activities instills a deep sense of respect for national heritage, culture and humanism in the minds of university youth today. Dibrugarh University attracts many international students and has been seen to promote international collaboration for teaching, learning and research. This Dibrugarh University has a large library, Laxminath Bezbarua Library as the central library containing books, magazines, thesis etc. on various subjects of effort. Since the collections in the library consist of more than 225,000 printed and non-printed resources the writers coming from abroad have visited it .It was immense pleasure for them . From the library Weekly, Monthly or quarterly some magazines are also published irregularly.
The LNB Library currently has 143 current periodicals, scholarly journals and popular journals. 22,685 bound journals, 21 regional and national newspapers 10,000+ e-journals etc . The writers who come to this international literary festival visited the library every day and collect various kinds of information. It means that there is an exchange of views or knowledge. This international literary festival continues to be discussed at home and abroad. This year, for the first time, Dibrugarh University organized an International Literature Festival 2024. The delegates from various parts of the country praised the hospitality of Dibrugarh University. This is a proud time for everyone at Dibrugarh University.
