Zinedine Zidane, who has been without a club since leaving Real Madrid in 2021, is considering a possible move to Bayern Munich, but a close source to the French expert said that another club is the priority for the Frenchman.
It’s Juventus of Turin, for which he played from 1996 until 2001, when he was sold to Real Madrid for a then-record fee of around 77.5 million euros.
According to the German channel Sport 1, Zidane is one of the options Bayern Munich is considering for the next season, after it was revealed that Thomas Tuchel will not stay beyond the end of the current season.
“Zinedine sees Bayern like Real Madrid – an institution as a club with a glorious past and excellent working conditions. Both clubs have a lot of similarities in how they operate. In this aspect, Bayern is a subject he has never refused,” a friend of Zidane revealed.
However, the same source claims that Zidane would certainly choose Juventus over any other option.
“If Juventus were to invite him, he would go there. But, the Bayern project could be important to him and he certainly wouldn’t judge the financial aspect. He would be the ideal coach to rebuild Bayern’s image and perhaps secure some continuity in the dugout,” the close associate of the Frenchman explained further.
Zidane has been unemployed for almost four years. In some cases, he has turned down lucrative offers from PSG because he did not consider the project healthy, but also because he hoped for the role of France’s coach.
However, after the World Cup, Didier Deschamps extended his contract with the French Football Federation, and it is clear that he will have to wait for some time for that role.
As the coach of Real Madrid, Zidane won three Champions League trophies, two La Liga titles, two Club World Cups, two UEFA Super Cups, and two Spanish Super Cups.
