Paulo Dybala will stay at Roma for next season, regardless of whether he signs a new contract or not, as the release clause in his current deal expires in two days.
There were rumors that La Joya could be tempted away from the Olimpico after just one season this summer, with Chelsea among the clubs interested.
It was reported that the value of the release clause was set at 12 million euros for clubs outside Italy. Starting next week, that option will no longer be valid.
According to “La Gazzetta dello Sport”, Dybala had already decided a long time ago that his immediate future would be best spent in Rome under Jose Mourinho.
The 29-year-old is believed to be set to sign a new contract with the Romans, but that is likely to happen after the summer transfer window, if not at the end.
The Argentine earned around €6 million during the 2022/23 season, €3.8 million of which was his fixed salary, with the rest of the figure made up of individual and team performance bonuses.
If he signs a new contract, it is expected that Dybala’s fixed salary will increase from 3.8 million euros to around 5 million euros.
