A year after the war in Ukraine, Arsenal make Zinchenko captain

Oleksandr Zinchenko will captain Arsenal in the match against Leicester City, valid for the 25th round in the Premier League.
The “Topcinjë” club made this decision in solidarity with the state of Ukraine, as yesterday marks one year since the outbreak of the war there.

Alex Zinchenko is our captain today, as a mark of respect and love for the first anniversary of the conflict in Ukraine,” the club’s statement reads.

The full-back has made more than 50 appearances for the National Team of Ukraine. After the outbreak of the war there, Zinchenko has been very emotionally connected, where in many cases we have seen him with tears in his eyes after the goals scored or the victories achieved.
