Luka Modric has reportedly turned down big-money offers from MLS and Saudi Arabia as he awaits a new contract with Real Madrid.
The Croatian midfielder is now 37 years old and has been working on a 12-month deal at the Santiago Bernabeu. He hopes to be presented with another short-term offer, allowing a 12th season to be spent in the Spanish capital.
No terms have yet been discussed with Real, and that is keeping America and the Middle East interested.
However, discussions are not expected to last long in Madrid and Marca report that Modric is prepared to be patient.
He has attracted interest from MLS amid links with Inter Miami, while Al-Nassr – fresh from sealing a stunning deal for Cristiano Ronaldo – is said to be keen to add Sergio Ramos and Modric to their ranks in the coming windows .
‘Marca’ points out that Modric has already rejected lucrative offers from America and Saudi Arabia with the intention of staying in the Spanish capital beyond the end of the season.
Modric has made it clear that he is in no rush to take on a new challenge, having shown at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar that he can still compete at the highest level and the expectation is that he will stay at Real . Madrid for at least one more year – allowing him to complete 500 appearances for ‘Los Blancos’.
