The former coach of the Spanish national team, Vincente del Bosque, has revealed that he tried to convince Lionel Messi to play for Spain.
Del Bosque previously managed the Spanish national team, respectively from 2008 to 2016, where during that period he managed to bring Spain its first World Cup title.
However, Del Bosque has openly shown the desire he had to have Messi in his national team at the time, but that the Argentine superstar had refused because of his love for his nation.
“I tried everything to convince Messi to play for Spain. However, he refused because of the love he has for his country,” Del Bosque told Radio Marca.
The rejection of the Spanish national team for that of Argentina did not turn out to be wrong, since Messi won the World Cup this year, which was held in Qatar./
