Neither Mbappé Nor Haaland – This Is the Fastest Player in the Champions League This Season

Speed is one of the most important weapons in modern football, and data published by UEFA have highlighted some of the fastest footballers in this season’s Champions League.

At the top of the list is Carlos Forbs of Club Brugge, who has recorded a maximum speed of 36.6 km/h.

Forbs started Club Brugge’s opening match in the league phase, a 3-2 defeat to Aston Villa. He played the entire match and had several attempts on goal, while one of his first-half shots was saved by the Aston Villa goalkeeper.

He is followed by Erling Haaland, who has reached 36 km/h, but the Norwegian has started the campaign in the most spectacular way possible. The Manchester City striker scored twice in a 2-0 victory over Porto, securing all three points for his team in their opening match.

Kylian Mbappé is third on the speed list with 36.4 km/h. The Frenchman also began his Champions League campaign with a goal, scoring Real Madrid’s opener in their 2-1 victory over Inter. It was his 71st Champions League goal.

In fourth place is Yann Bisseck of Inter, with a top speed of 35.3 km/h. The German defender started against Real Madrid but had a difficult moment, as his loss of possession at the beginning of the move allowed Mbappé to score the opening goal.

Eren Elmali of Galatasaray has recorded 35.1 km/h and was in the starting lineup for the opening match against Sporting. Galatasaray were beaten 3-1 in Lisbon, with the Turkish defender featuring in the match.

Ruben Van Bommel of PSV is also on the list with a speed of 35.2 km/h, while another interesting name is Karim Adeyemi, who has recorded 34.4 km/h.

The German forward began his Champions League adventure with Barcelona in the best possible way, scoring a goal in their emphatic 5-1 victory over Feyenoord.

Also on the list is Tigran Barseghyan of Slovan Bratislava, with a top speed of 34.1 km/h. He provided the assist for Slovan’s goal against PSG, although the Slovakian side ultimately suffered defeat.

Meanwhile, Andy Diouf of Inter has recorded 34.4 km/h and was among the Italian side’s most active players in their 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid.
