Spanish forward Ansu Fati is no longer a Barcelona player.
The Catalan club has officially confirmed that the 22-year-old has completed a permanent move to Monaco after the French side activated the €11 million purchase option included in his loan agreement.
Fati spent last season on loan at Monaco, where he successfully rediscovered his form following a difficult period plagued by injuries. He scored 11 goals in 25 Ligue 1 appearances and finished the campaign with 12 goals in 30 matches across all competitions.
His impressive performances even sparked speculation about a return to the Spain national team, although that ultimately did not happen.
Monaco have rewarded Fati with a four-year contract, while Barcelona will not only receive the transfer fee but also save approximately €6 million per year on the player’s wages. The Catalan club has also retained a sell-on percentage for any future transfer, although the exact details have not been disclosed.
