Cristiano Ronaldo has secured another victory over Juventus — this time off the pitch. The Portuguese forward has definitively won the legal dispute he initiated against the Italian club and will not be required to repay the €9.7 million he received in deferred salary payments linked to the COVID-19 period, BeIN Sports reports.
The ruling confirms a decision made several months ago and represents a significant setback for the Bianconeri, who had attempted to overturn the payment made to the player after his departure from the club.
During the COVID-19 crisis, Juventus and their players agreed to defer part of their salaries due to the club’s fragile financial situation. In Cristiano Ronaldo’s case, those wages remained unpaid, with a promise that they would be settled once the critical period had passed.
However, following his transfer to Manchester United, the Italian club failed to honor that agreement, prompting the Portuguese star to file a legal claim to recover the unpaid wages.
Four months ago, the courts had already ruled in favor of CR7, ordering Juventus to pay a sum close to €10 million. The club chose to challenge that ruling before a labor court in Turin, even requesting that the money be returned.
Once again, the response was decisive: the court rejected the appeal and confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo is not obliged to repay the money. Juventus was also ordered to cover €80,000 in legal costs.
For now, the case appears to be closed in the player’s favor, although Juventus may still explore one final legal avenue. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo emerges victorious once again from a confrontation with his former club, reinforcing the idea that his relationship with the Italian giants continues to produce tense chapters years after his departure.
Another victory for CR7 — this time, signed by a judge.
