Sergio Ramos has officially played his final match for Monterrey, with the club confirming his departure before his contract’s expiration on December 31, 2025.
This announcement comes just days after reports emerged that the 39-year-old defender is seeking a sensational return to European football.
Monterrey were defeated 3–2 by Toluca and were eliminated from the Mexican league Play-Offs, while Ramos scored one of the goals from the penalty spot.
The 39-year-old ends his Mexican adventure with 34 appearances for Monterrey, during which he also scored eight goals for the club. Ramos has already offered his services to AC Milan and is particularly eager to reunite with his former Real Madrid teammate, Luka Modric, at San Siro.

According to Calciomercato and Fabrizio Romano, his representatives have contacted Milan, emphasizing that Ramos is willing to take on a leadership role in the squad without demanding guaranteed minutes.
The veteran sees a move to Serie A as the ideal final chapter of his career, while he has not given up hope of earning a place in Spain’s national team for the 2026 World Cup.
