Mo Salah has caused shockwaves in England after a long and harsh statement directed at manager Arne Slot and Liverpool Football Club, following another match where he was left on the bench in the 3-3 draw against Leeds United. The Egyptian star was not used at all for the third match in a row and did not hide his disappointment.
“I couldn’t believe I was on the bench for 90 minutes. It’s the first time in my career. I feel like the club has thrown me under the bus,” Salah said, adding that his relationship with Slot “no longer exists.”
He also hinted that he might leave in January:
“I have called my parents to come to the match against Brighton so I can say goodbye to the fans before the Africa Cup of Nations. I don’t know what will happen next.”
Salah stated that the club has not kept the promises made in the summer and that he does not deserve the treatment he is receiving:
“I’ve given so much for this club. I’m not a problem, I’ve won the Golden Boot and I have merits earned on the pitch. But it seems like someone here doesn’t want me anymore.”
Regarding interest from Saudi Arabia, he refused to answer, saying only that any statement he makes “is twisted by the club.”
Salah’s statement seriously puts his future at Anfield in doubt and signals one of the most sensational separations in recent Premier League years.
