Teun Koopmeiners has finally found confidence in his new role at Juventus and can leave around 60 million doubts behind (including bonuses), writes “Football Italia”.
The former Atalanta player had felt the pressure of those 60 million euros that Juve paid two summers ago to remove him from Bergamo, having struggled to replicate that kind of form in Turin.
They needed to go back to the basics, such as his technical quality, which is the main reason why changing position to the left side of a three-man defense was the quickest way to initiate quality plays from the back.
Luciano Spalletti’s idea worked, Koopmeiners is playing with a whole new spirit, he no longer feels that pressure, and if he had made the most of that great opportunity to score in the 2-1 win over Cagliari yesterday, it would have been a perfect Saturday for the Dutchman.
It now remains to be seen what decisions Spalletti will make once Gleison Bremer returns to defense, as we could see Koopmeiners return to his original position in midfield.
