After nine years together, Cristiano Ronaldo and his fiancée Georgina Rodriguez are planning their wedding, and the famous footballer has chosen a very special place for the occasion.
The couple, who got engaged in August, will say their final “I do” on Ronaldo’s birth island, Madeira, with the ceremony set to take place this summer after the World Cup, reports The Sun.

The Al-Nassr star is said to have chosen the cathedral in Funchal, while the wedding celebrations will continue in one of the island’s luxury hotels. It is the oldest church in Ronaldo’s hometown, consecrated in 1514.
The cathedral is considered the religious center of the region and is also known for its impressive roof. Choosing Funchal holds deep personal meaning for Ronaldo. The cathedral is less than three kilometers from the hospital where he was born and not far from the stadium of his youth club, Nacional da Madeira.

The Real Madrid legend spent two years there before joining Sporting Lisbon in 1997 at the age of 12.
