Liverpool manager Arne Slot has admitted that his team is going through a difficult period after a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea in this weekend’s Premier League match.
In the clash held at Stamford Bridge, The Reds suffered their third consecutive loss, losing ground in the race for the top of the table.
After the match, Slot stated that his team created enough chances to get a positive result but failed to capitalize on them.
“Another disappointing defeat, that’s clear. In the first half we had three big chances, they had only one — and they scored. In the second half, we played better, created a lot, but couldn’t take our chances. It was a game that either team could have won; unfortunately, Chelsea did,” said the Dutch coach.
Slot emphasized that the team has not yet reached its ideal form, mentioning the many changes that took place during the summer and the limited training time with new players.
“You’re never close to your ideal form right away. You have to work hard to reach a certain level and maintain it, especially when facing teams with great quality. We had major changes over the summer. Players arrived at different times, and we’ve had little training time together. We’re trying to adapt them to our style. Even a draw today would have been a good step forward, considering what we’ve been through,” he said.
