Never Say Never by Ruzhdi Gashi

In our lives, we often rush to draw firm lines around what we will or will not do.
“It will never happen,”
“I’ll never change,”
“I’ll never try that” —
these are phrases that leave our lips with complete certainty. Yet time, experience, and circumstance show us that the word “never” may be one of the most uncertain things we can say.

Human beings are constantly evolving.
What seems impossible today may become a new opportunity tomorrow, opening up unimaginable horizons.
What scares us now or feels foreign may one day turn into our greatest passion.
That’s why saying “never” is often a limit we impose on ourselves — leaving no room for growth, experience, or change.

Life teaches us that even when we’re certain of something, it has a way of surprising us.
A person who swears they’ll never forgive may one day feel the power of forgiveness.
Someone who never dared to leave their hometown might travel and call a distant place their new home.
Dreams shift, fears fade, and priorities turn upside down.

Moreover, saying “never” often means closing doors before they’ve even opened.
Instead of staying open to possibilities, we judge the future based on fear or our mindset in the moment.
But life is far richer, more complex, and more unpredictable than our rigid declarations.

So perhaps we should replace “never say never” with a gentler, humbler approach to the future:
I don’t know what tomorrow will bring. I’m ready to be surprised.
That is the best way to live — with an open heart, a free mind, and the courage to change.
