Very short poems By : Abdel latif Moubarak … Egyptian poet

On her body,
a scorpion drew me.
In my first sting…
I die.

She reaches for her dream,
but her hand,
broken from the grasp.

Addresses—
and I, the nearest,
am blind.

Gather me
from every street,
every alley,
every home.
Show me victory’s face—
what are its features?

Tell me how this ends for us…
My Nile, and your Nile.
My pyramid, and your pyramid.
Do you think our youth will ever return?

Who told her
that I was in a protest?
(The flag)

Transparent,
when my eyes look at you…
and I can’t
see you at all.

I have no other choice
but the one path…
to defeat.
When a look from her eyes
brandishes
its weapon.

A wave hides in another’s shadow,
and you, the last wave,
watch your power
as the sea plays
its symphony.

The miracle:
The angel enters the hearts of those
thirsty for love,
cool and at peace.

Since you own the universe…
in my heart…
let me into your heaven.

My heart,
like a sea bird,
your love’s wind
carries away with you.

Your stature…
in a sundress.

And I, drunk on the wine of laughter,
pour me another.

How many gallows
for a dream?

I call out—
and you, the princess in my country’s robes,
look down on your people…
and descend
from your ivory tower.
