Lilies Scattered Over Water
Lilies scattered over water,
Through the forest, a lake so blue,
Petals form white circling borders
And gently strike the boat of wood, too.
I pass in silence near the shore,
A weight, a worry on my chest,
From the reeds—could it be more?
Is it hiding, leaping to my breast?
The water whispers all around
As we together row the boat,
I let the oars fall without sound,
Embraced, we whisper while night floats.
The lake waves soft, in quiet trance,
The moon surrounds us with its glow,
Above the reeds a gentle dance,
The breeze stirs waters down below.
But no—oh no—in deep despair,
I sigh, for still you do not come,
Face down, broken by the air,
Like lilies drifting all alone.
