Rafael Leao’s brilliance in the Derby della Madonnina has led the Italian media to argue that “if Jack Grealish is worth 117 million euros, then the Milan striker is worth 400 million euros.”
The Portuguese just turned 23 in June and has a €150m release clause in his contract, allowing the Reds to ignore reported €100m offers from Chelsea this summer.
His market value was further boosted after two goals and an assist in a 3-2 win over Inter at the San Siro, including a stunning strike that saw him spin the ball through a crowd of defenders to get away .
The Premier League’s big spending has distorted the value of players in the transfer market and it is sparking a debate in Italy.
RaiSport’s expert, Francesco Repice, commented after the derby: “If Jack Grealish is worth 117 million euros, then the Milan striker should be ready for 400 million euros!”.
The England international turns 27 next week and was bought by Manchester City from Aston Villa in the summer of 2021 for €117.5 million.
He has contributed six goals and four assists in 42 competitive games for the club.
