According to reports from Marca, Atletico Madrid has no intention of parting ways with Julian Alvarez this summer, despite strong interest from both Barcelona and Arsenal.
The Argentine forward, who joined Atletico from Manchester City, has quickly become a key figure in Diego Simeone’s squad and is considered untouchable by the club’s leadership. Barcelona had identified Alvarez as a potential long-term successor to Robert Lewandowski, and the player’s agent has not denied the Catalan club’s interest.
However, Atletico has dismissed any possibility of a transfer, citing Alvarez’s €500 million release clause as a clear signal of their commitment to the striker.
The 24-year-old, who won the World Cup with Argentina, has made a strong impression in his first season at the Metropolitano. In addition to earning Simeone’s trust, he has become a central part of the club’s project.
Atletico managed to secure Alvarez by convincing him to leave Manchester City and by beating out competition from PSG, who had offered a more financially lucrative deal.
While Barcelona and Arsenal continue to monitor the situation, Atletico sees Alvarez as a long-term leader and has no plans to sell him this summer.
