Even Jordi Alba has declared about who deserves the “Golden Ball” for this year. The defender of Barcelona said that he would always give this award to Lionel Messi, but now Karim Benzema deserves it.
“I would always give it to Leo [Messi], but this year Benzema was very good”, said Alba. We remember that Messi is not on the short list of candidates for the “Golden Ball” this year.
Benzema, Salah, Courtois, De Bruyne, Lewandowski, Mane, Mbappe and Ronaldo are among the main contenders for the Ballon d’Or. However, the Real Madrid striker is being rated as the favorite to win this award for the first time, after he developed a fantastic season.
The Frenchman helped the Spanish team win the title of champion in La Liga, as well as in the Champions League. The “Golden Ball” ceremony will be held on October 17.
