Xabi Alonso to Leave Leverkusen at the End of the Season for Real Madrid

Spanish coach Xabi Alonso is reportedly set to leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the current season, despite being under contract until June 2026.

The decision is said to come as Alonso is expected to take over at Real Madrid next summer.

Eurosport Spain has confirmed that Alonso will become a free agent. His move to Real Madrid is highly anticipated, with the Spanish coach lined up to replace Carlo Ancelotti.

It is understood that Bayern Munich could be a potential destination if Vincent Kompany’s tenure at the club does not meet expectations. However, Real Madrid is currently the favorite to secure Alonso’s signature.

Manchester City has also shown interest in Alonso, with rumors suggesting a possible move if Pep Guardiola departs during the summer.

Nevertheless, Leverkusen remains confident that Alonso will join Real Madrid, with the Spanish coach seen as the club’s preferred candidate to take charge.
