Poem by Rumi:

Searching for Your Face

Since the dawn of my life
I have been searching for your face,
and today I saw it.

Today I saw
the grace, the beauty,
the unmatched kindness
of the face
I had been looking for.

Today I found you,
and those who yesterday
mocked me and laughed,
now regret not searching for you
the way I did.

I am astonished by the greatness
of your beauty,
which awakens in me the desire
to behold you
with at least a hundred eyes.

My heart is scorched with passion
for this wondrous beauty
I have always been searching for.

And now
I am ashamed
to call this a human love,
yet I fear God
to call it divine.

Your gentle breath,
like the morning breeze,
has stirred the stillness of the garden,
you have awakened new lives in me—
I have become the sun
and your shadow.

My soul is losing itself in happiness,
my whole being
is in love with you.

Your presence
has lit a fire in my heart
for me,
the earth, and the sky.

My arrow of love
has reached its destination—
I am in the house of mercy,
and my heart
is a sanctuary of prayers.
