Up to nine Real Madrid players are reportedly expected to leave this summer, as potential future coach Jose Mourinho aims to rebuild the squad following a highly disappointing 2025/26 season.
Despite coach Alvaro Arbeloa still being in charge, it appears that the former Real Madrid right-back’s days at the helm are numbered, after “Los Blancos” failed to win a major trophy for the second consecutive season.
Last week was undoubtedly one to forget for Florentino Perez and his associates, with Fede Valverde being taken to hospital for treatment of a head laceration following a collision with teammate Aurelien Tchouameni. The Uruguayan’s injury caused him to miss El Clasico against FC Barcelona at Camp Nou, a match that crowned the Catalan side champions with three games still remaining in La Liga.
According to reports from Spanish outlet ABC, Real Madrid’s squad could look completely different by the time Jose Mourinho takes charge of the club. The outlet claims that up to nine players will either be sold, loaned out, or leave as free agents after the current season ends.
Experienced defenders David Alaba and Dani Carvajal are expected to depart after their contracts expire this summer, while midfielder Dani Ceballos is considered surplus to requirements and is also likely to leave.
Argentine talent Franco Mastantuono, who arrived from River Plate in 2025, is expected to be sent out on loan, while Real Madrid are also interested in making financial gains from Eduardo Camavinga, Raul Asencio, Gonzalo Garcia and Fran Garcia.
Backup goalkeeper Andriy Lunin could also leave if the right offer arrives for the Ukrainian international.
Jose Mourinho also wants to bring in his own coaching staff, although Real Madrid are likely to appoint an assistant coach from within the club as well.
