In recent months, there has been discussion that Real Madrid may look to add another defensive midfielder to Xabi Alonso’s squad. Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić have not been replaced since their departures in 2024 and 2025, and while a new signing could arrive, there is also the possibility that some current players could leave.
Dani Ceballos is expected to leave Real Madrid in 2026 or 2027, when his contract expires. However, other players have also been linked with a potential departure, including Eduardo Camavinga.
Camavinga has struggled to secure a starting spot this season and, according to CaughtOffside, Liverpool are hoping to take advantage of this situation to bring him to Anfield.
Liverpool, who so far are experiencing a very poor season, want to strengthen their midfield, and Camavinga would give them that opportunity. According to the report, they are willing to pay €60 million to sign the Frenchman from Real Madrid, although this amount may not be enough to convince the Bernabéu officials.
Camavinga has also been linked with Chelsea in recent months, but Liverpool are emerging as the main candidate to sign him—if the player decides to leave. Real Madrid’s management are not actively seeking to sell the 23-year-old, but the report says there have been internal discussions on whether it might be wiser to cash in on him, given that Xabi Alonso does not consider him an untouchable player.
Real Madrid could consider selling Camavinga in 2026, but if that happens, €60 million is certainly far too little. It may be unreasonable to let him go, considering he has proved to be a very valuable player since joining from Rennes four years ago, but if he continues to be left out of the starting lineup, the player himself could push for a move away from the Bernabéu.
