Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has responded this week to questions about the possibility of Lionel Messi returning to the club.
And the German, apparently, is quite open to such a scenario.
During the press conference ahead of Barcelona’s La Liga match against Athletic Club on Saturday, Flick explained:
“Coaching Messi? Why not? I always enjoy watching him play, he’s extraordinary. But his contract ends in 2028 and mine in 2027…”
Speculation about a potential reunion between Messi and the Blaugrana naturally arose after the Argentine made an unexpected visit to Catalonia.
While in Spain this month for a training camp with the Argentine national team, Messi also visited the newly renovated Spotify Camp Nou.
With suggestions that this visit might be related to improving the previously cold relationship between him and his former club, reports of a “last dance” between Barcelona and Messi have spread quickly.
However, for now, such a return seems highly unlikely.
