Greenwood on the verge of the biggest transfer of his career

Marseille forward Mason Greenwood could be on the brink of a major move this summer, as Juventus are seriously interested in him, with the Englishman in excellent form in France and attracting the attention of the Italian giants.

The 24-year-old is enjoying another successful season in the south of France, scoring 25 goals and providing eight assists in 38 appearances across all competitions.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, with two-time European champions Juventus mentioned as the most likely new destination.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Marseille may be forced to sell Greenwood for financial reasons if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League. The French club currently sits third in Ligue 1 with 49 points.

However, the battle for the top three places remains very tight. Marseille are only two points ahead of fourth-placed Lyon, three points ahead of fifth-placed Lille, and six points ahead of Monaco and Rennes, who sit in sixth and seventh place respectively.

Man United to receive a percentage of the transfer fee

The Italian newspaper reports that Marseille would demand compensation of at least €45 million in the event of a sale. A portion of that fee would also go to Manchester United, who included a sell-on clause when the Englishman joined Marseille in July 2024 for €26 million.

Gazzetta dello Sport adds that Juventus’ interest in Greenwood is not new. The Italian giants attempted to sign him two years ago, but the forward chose to move to Marseille instead.
