Anthony Gordon left fans amazed by speaking fluent Spanish during his presentation as a Barcelona player.
On Friday, the 25-year-old completed an €80 million move from Newcastle to Barcelona, signing a five-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2031.
During the presentation ceremony, Gordon surprised supporters by speaking Spanish perfectly, much like his fellow English international and close friend, Trent Alexander-Arnold, who did the same during his presentation at Real Madrid after leaving Liverpool last summer.
“There was a physiotherapist at Newcastle, and we spoke every day. One day I told him that I would play for Barça and that I wanted to learn Spanish.
“I found out about Barcelona’s interest very late. But as soon as I realized that Barça was a serious option, there was no longer any doubt.”
“Barça is the biggest club on the planet. It’s something I’ve dreamed of since I was a child,” Gordon stated.
Gordon, who recorded 39 goals and 28 assists in 152 appearances, helped Newcastle United win the EFL Cup in 2025, ending the club’s 70-year wait for a major trophy.
