“Everyone wants to be the best” – Benzema identifies Real Madrid’s biggest problem

French striker Karim Benzema is currently in Dubai preparing for the second half of the season with his club, Al-Ittihad, after almost a month-long break.

In the UAE city, Benzema gave a long interview to L’Equipe, in which he discussed various topics—from a possible return to the French national team to the current situation at Real Madrid. However, most of the attention was on Real Madrid, as the Spanish giants are going through a results crisis, and Benzema has identified the problem.

“What they’re missing is simply a connection between Mbappé, Vinicius, Bellingham, and Rodrygo. Each one needs to know what to do on the pitch,” Benzema initially told L’Equipe

.

“Bellingham needs to understand that he is the attacking midfielder, not the goalscorer. Mbappé is the goalscorer, not the attacking midfielder. Vinicius is not a defensive midfielder; he’s a left winger.”

“As long as everyone knows what they have to do on the field, that’s it. Because we’re talking about players who are among the top ten in the world, and they’re all in the same team.”

“The solution? It’s difficult because each player has their own personality and characteristics. Everyone wants to be the best, so it becomes a bit complicated. Each one must understand that, in their role, they can contribute—but it has to be for the good of the team,” the French star concluded.
