Modric named the best midfielder of the decade by the Spanish media, AS

Luka Modric has been named the best midfielder of the past decade by AS. The Madrid-based Spanish media awarded him this recognition in a traditional ceremony held at the Teatro Real theater hall. The captain of the Croatian national team and vice-captain of Real Madrid is one of the 21 athletes who received recognition at the mentioned event. Other winners include the Spanish men’s and women’s football teams, footballers Rodri, Antoine Griezmann, and David Silva, Real Madrid basketball players, weightlifter Lydia Valentin, synchronized swimmer Ona Carbonell, tennis player Feliciano Lopez, and others.

In the article about Modric, AS emphasized that he is the winner of the Golden Ball in 2018, the winner of five Champions League titles, and three titles in the Spanish league, making him a football legend with 23 titles won with Real Madrid. AS considers him one of the biggest stars of this year’s awards ceremony.

“As a start, I would like to congratulate the other winners. It is an honor to be here with so many exceptional athletes. Thank you, AS, for this award; it is an honor to receive recognition from such an important media. I am grateful to the fans for everything, but also to the coaches and teammates I have worked with. The Champions League? It would be fantastic to win it again. But first, we have La Liga and the cup ahead of us, so we need to focus on those,” said Modric.
