The famous former English footballer, David Beckham, believes that England’s young stars have a real opportunity to end the decades-long wait for a major trophy at next year’s tournament in Germany “Euro 2024”.
England have not tasted the trophy since 1966 when they won the World Cup.
The “Three Lions” reached the semi-finals of the World Cup in Russia in 2018 and three years later lost to Italy on penalties in the final of the European Championship.
“I really believe in this England team,” Beckham told AFP on Wednesday. “I believe in Gareth Southgate and what he is doing and what he has done for a number of years. I think we have a real opportunity with young players like Cole Palmer, Jude Bellingham and the other players we have in the squad. And of course, we have a captain like Harry Kane, who still continues to inspire the team. So I think we have a real chance.”
England, which already has the qualification only as a formality, plays these days in the framework of the qualifying campaign for Euro 2024 against Malta and against North Macedonia.
