Jose Mourinho’s job could be in danger after it is reported that Roma could sack him if his side lose to Serie A bottom side Cagliari.
This is what sources of “Corriere dello Sport” have said, and this comes after the somewhat indifferent start of Rome this season in Serie A.
If the Giallorossi lose to Cagliari, as they did against Verona and Genoa – both of whom are below Roma in the table – then the Portuguese manager could be relieved of his duties.
Even the deep victory over Empoli 7-0, as well as the positive results in two matches in the Europa League, are not expected to make Mourinho’s job any easier.
If the board take their decision and sack Mourinho after Sunday’s game, it would be the 60-year-old’s fifth sacking in his career.
Daniel Levy was the last person to sack him from Spurs in April 2021.
If Roma travel to Cagliari on Sunday, it would be their first away win in the league this season.
