Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham possesses many of the attributes of legendary midfielder Zinedine Zidane, according to former Liverpool captain Graeme Souness.
Bellingham has developed into a better player after impressing for Borussia Dortmund before joining Real Madrid in a €103m transfer in the summer.
He has also become a star figure for England and Souness believes he resembles Real Madrid and France hero Zidane.
“I give the description ‘great player’ very rarely and you will know very well by now that when it comes to midfielders I apply a particularly harsh criticism,” he wrote in a Daily Mail column.
“But I say without any hesitation that Jude Bellingham could be in that group. He has the physical attributes and technical ability of Zinedine Zidane – for me, one of the greatest players to grace the Real Madrid midfield – but only time will tell if he reaches those heights. His potential seems limitless.”
“There are many dimensions to his game. He has fantastic technique. He has a wise footballing head on his young shoulders, with years of experience yet to gain. He has that physique. But it’s the capacity. to see three or four steps ahead, something only the best players have, which is special. He has all the attributes to become one of the greats of the game.”
Bellingham has scored five goals in the first four games with Real Madrid.
