Buffon receives a ‘statospheric’ offer from Saudi Arabia

Corriere dello Sport’ suggests that Gianluigi Buffon has received a lucrative contract offer from a club in Saudi Arabia.
The 2006 World Cup winner is still playing in Serie B, having returned to Parma in the summer of 2021. Last season, he made 19 appearances in all competitions.

PIF’s recent investment in Saudi Arabian football has sent ripples across the European market, with a number of established players accepting lucrative offers from clubs such as Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr.

‘Corriere dello Sport’ details how Buffon is the latest household name to be offered a rich contract by Saudi Arabia, worth around €30 million net per season,

The 45-year-old Italian goalkeeper, who has a contract with Parma for another year, now has three options in front of the house: continue in Emilia-Romagna, retire from football or accept the Saudi offer.

If Buffon were to accept, he would be the second Italian to play in the Saudi Pro League after Sebastian Giovinco, who played for Al-Hilal from 2019 to 2021.
